Famous singer Jaan Nissar Lone, music director of Mumbai-based Kashmiri Bollywood, and prominent Assamese Bollywood singer and musician Rani Hazarika on Wednesday received the first Late Kundan Lal (KL) Saigal award from former Minister of Union and senior Congress official Shushilkumar Shinde.
In a press release, Jammu and Kashmir International Film Festival (JAIKIFF) director Mushtaque Ali Khan said the award was instituted by the Pune-based NGO Sarhad, which also jointly organized the film festival with the Arham Foundation. The prize consists of a citation and a shield.
Anand Agarwal, Editor-in-Chief, Aaj ka Anand, Social Activist Sant Singh Mokha, Ashok Kaul, Director, Film Producer Nilesh Navalakha, Rajeev Jalnapurkar, CEO, Ramoji Film City, Famous Popular Artist Sambhaji Bhagat, Sanjay Nahar, Founding Chairman, Sarhad, Dr. Shailesh Pagaria was also present.
The festival committee has decided to award this prize to eminent personalities from the world of cinema and music. The first prize was awarded to the Bollywood singing couple Lone and Hazarika in memory of the great actor.
